So you just want to play EVE on your TV? If your TV has HDMI/VGA inputs on it you can hook your computer directly to it if you want. You don't need Apple TV. I'm unfamiliar with Apple TV so if I'm missing something I apologize.

Interesting problem. Without actually being at the computer, I'm not sure, but it sounds like the laptop itself may not be able to handle EVE. Have you tried to run the repair program? Have you ran EVE successfully on that laptop before?
